Blooming Onion Bites (with dipping sauce)

Image
Take a trip to the Outback in your own kitchen with this homemade, super easy recipe for blooming onion bites! These petals have all of the flavor of our favorite blooming onion but the individual pieces are easier to cook (and eat) at home.  Make a batch just in time for the big game or movie night— we even included the recipe for the sauce! What is a Blooming Onion? A blooming onion is an onion that is cut into wedges (most of the way through) and battered and deep-fried. Think of it as a big huge onion ring . While we love ordering this appetizer to share with a crowd at a restaurant, they can be large and difficult to handle at home. We love cutting the onion into individual petals: they’re easier to cut with no special tools required they’re easier to deep-fry and don’t require as large of a pot of oil we love how the entire strip of onion is evenly coated and crispy they’re great to serve a crowd, it’s easier for people to grab a few petals rather than trying to pull o

Image
No need to wait for cookies to be baked with this edible cookie dough recipe! This egg-free edible cookie dough has heat-treated flour meaning it’s perfect to eat right out of the bowl! Easy Edible Cookie Dough We love this decadent snack because it’s so sweet and packed with all the raw, buttery sugary goodness edible cookie dough has to offer! This recipe is made simple with chocolate chips but get creative… add your favorite nuts, candies or sprinkles! Endless possibilities. While you’re at it, add it to no-churn ice cream , turn it into cookie dough brownies , put some on a baked cake or stir chunks into your fave frosting. Or do what I do, just eat it with a spoon! Ingredients and Variations FLOUR I use all-purpose flour in this recipe and bake it to kill any bacteria. Let the flour cool before proceeding with the recipe so it doesn’t melt the butter. BUTTER   & SUGAR What would cookie dough be without it? Real butter always tastes best, but feel free to sub coc

Why Feeling “at Home” Is Overrated

Image
Home, as in the place where I grew up and where my parents still live, is southern California. I’m from a wealthy, mostly white, ridiculously pleasant, master-planned community called Laguna Niguel. Home, as in the place where I have put down my adult roots and to which I feel the strongest allegiance, is the Bay Area. As of this year, I’ve lived in San Francisco longer than I’ve lived anywhere else. Read More >> http://dlvr.it/Rkg9W6
